A Study on the Quality of Life in the Cataract Patients (By The EQ-5D(Euro Quality of Life-5Dimension Standard))

Abstract
Purpose: The object of this study is to promote importance of eye health through research on quality of life in the cataract patients.

Methods: Using the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2012, influence on daily life by cataract were anlayzed with five elements of motor ability, self-management, daily activities, pain/ inconvenience, and anxiety/depression, and statistical analyses were performed with SPSS 18.0.

Results: Cataract affected daily life of patience which was different with residence, sex, and income of the patience. Motor ability was affected by 70% and 7.5% of patience having his residence at Eup-region and lower-income, respectively. In the case of self-management, 35.8 and 3.8% of the patience having their residence at Eup- and Dong-region, repectively, was affected. In daily activity, 54.9 and 9.4% of the patience of woman and lower income group, repectively, were affected
by cataract. A eup region and low-Income group ranked in motor ability with 70.0% and 7.3%, A eup region and dong
region ranked in self-management with 35.5% and 3.8%, a women and low-Income group ranked in daily activities with
54.9% and 9.4% respectively. And high- income group and women ranked in pain and in convenience with 51.2% and
19.1%, a women and Low-Income group ranked in anxiety and depression with 27.1% and 5.9% respectively.
